When I'm the official photographer at your show, there's no need to book individual competition coverage. I photograph all exhibitors throughout the event and post proofs to an online gallery for viewing and purchase.

  • Nope! When I'm the official photographer, I photograph all classes and competitors throughout the show. Just go show and let me do the rest!

    If you're looking for something beyond regular competition coverage, like a reel or another pre-booked media option, those may require advance sign-up.

  • As soon as I can get them to you!

    Show weekends generate a lot of images, and they all need to be sorted, culled and prepared before it hits the gallery. I usually begin uploading proofs shortly after the show and will post on social media when galleries are ready.

    Remember: proofs are just that: proofs. Purchased images receive their full final edit before delivery.

  • Show galleries are organized to make finding yourself as easy as possible - usually by back number.

    I'll share the gallery link on my social media once proofs are available. From there, you can browse, favourite and purchase directly through the gallery.

  • Because they're not! 😉

    Proof galleries are intentionally left unedited so you can browse and choose your favourites quickly after the show.

    Once ordered, your selections receive my full edit before they're delivered.

  • Please don't. Watermarked proofs are provided for viewing and purchasing only and aren't finished photographs.

    If there's one you love, purchase it through the gallery and you'll receive the properly edited, high-resolution version that's ready to save, print and share.

  • Of course. Personal photos and videos from friends and family are always welcome.

    What may be restricted at events where I'm the official photographer is professional or commercial photography by another provider, particularly coverage being provided to exhibitors as an alternative to the official coverage.

    Event-specific media policies are ultimately determined by show management, so check the show's information if you're unsure.

  • May through fall is my busiest season, where I’m balancing several shows, portrait sessions, reels and client projects at once.

    Work is completed according to its own turnaround timeline rather than strictly in the order you may see things posted online. Show proofs may appear quickly because they use a different workflow than finished galleries, while social media content may have been prepared in advance.

    Posting online doesn't mean I've stopped working on your photos - it just means I'm running the other parts of my business, too.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Feel free to reach out via my inquiry page and I’ll send along an application form! If I am unavailable for your event I’ll happily provide recommendations for other photographers.

  • All proofs will be posted to the respective show folder at www.juliannajones.shootproof.com within 48 hours of the show. They’ll be sorted by back number so you can easily find your photos!

  • For your convenience, there is an online store on every horse show gallery where you can purchase prints or digitals. Payment options include credit/debit via PayPal or e-transfer.

    Alternatively, you can pre-pay for a Pick 5 or Pick 10 package (or all of your images!) and select them when proofs go up.

  • This really comes down to two main reasons: first and foremost, until you buy your images and the final version ends up in your inbox, they are legally property of JJP - even if it’s you in the photo! Screenshotting and posting your proofs online, without explicit consent, is image theft. Of course, if you need to screenshot them to zoom in and check that you aren't making a crazy face or want to send them to your friends to help decide which one to buy, that’s totally fine, this is strictly referring to posting them online.

    The second reason is because like the majority of other horse show photographers, I am not paid by show associations to come shoot their events. Image sales are the only income I get from most shows, and before I pay myself, taxes and business expenses like equipment, gallery hosting, software, travel, food, and staff wages are the first to come out of those earnings. When screenshots of watermarked proofs are posted instead of purchased images, it’s not free advertising, it’s a very direct loss of income. Aside from the cost involved, it’s hours upon hours that are spent shooting, culling, sorting by back number or rider, uploading, and editing images, just so we can continue to provide an excellent standard of service for exhibitors. I promise we are not all out here getting rich on shooting horse shows or trying to be mean or petty by asking you not to post watermarked proofs online - we shoot shows because we love it, and at the end of the day, we just want to be fairly compensated for our work too.

  • Yes, I can! This isn't always possible for every image, but most of the time I can straighten a tail, close a mouth, or do an ear or face swap from another image.
